Like all of the "Dummy" books,"The Ancient Egyptians for Dummies" is full of good information, interesting, easy to read, entertaining and a very good start for anyone interested in learning about the oldest culture on Earth. I bought the book because of an up-coming trip to Egypt. After finishing the book I bought several others, borrowed several more from the local library and will continue to read about this ancient civilization until I return from Cairo. The author, Charlotte Booth, has a Masters Degree in Egyptian Archaeology from University College London and, when writing this book, was working on her PHD in the same subject. She writes with intelligence, humor and provides good information that keeps the reader's interest. Best of all she wets the readers interest in the subject so it is almost impossible not to seek further detailed information. It would have been an impossible task for Ms. Booth to provide everything in one book about this subject. For example, the Pyramids were a thousand years old when Tutankhamun sat on the throne of Egypt. And Tutankhamun had been in his famous tomb, wearing his beautiful golden mask, a thousand years when Cleopatra was queen. But Ms. Booth's book covers much of this history and best off all, her book is a good place to start gathering information about long history of Egypt.
