The Orion Prophecy: Will the World Be Destroyed in 2012? Review

If you will notice the rating in the reviews of this book will either be 1 or 5 stars but no in-betweens. THis is perhaps do to the polarizing nature of the subject and the many fears that people tend to harbor. I found this book to be very illuminating and a confirmation to something that I already knew from either other sources or from pure insight. But regardless of the numerous reviews here nothing can take away from the fact that the Mayan calendar ends in the year 2012? Coincidence? THe book was not written for a scientific journal, so it does sound speculative at times, but once you read and understand the implications and the sources from which the authors have drawn their data, it is highly illuminating.

In the year 2012 the Earth awaits a super catastrophe: its magnetic field will turn over in one go. Phenomenal earthquakes and tidal waves will completely destroy our civilisation. Europe and North America will shift thousands of kilometres northwards into polar climate. Nearly the whole earth's population will perish in the apocalyptic happenings. These dire predictions stem from Mayans and Egyptians -- descendants of the legendary Atlantis. The Atlanteans had highly evolved astronomical knowledge and were able to exactly calculate the previous world-wide flood in 9792 BC. They built tens of thousands of mandjits and escaped to South America and Egypt. In the year 2012 Venus, Orion and several other stars will take the same 'code positions' as in 9792 BC, the year of the previous cataclysm! For thousands of years historical sources have told of a forgotten time capsule of ancient wisdom located in a mythical labyrinth of secret chambers filled with artefacts and documents from the previous flood -- this book gives one possible location.

The historical background of the book is very interesting but I consider the "math" inside an insult.
My advice to the author: stay away from math, seriously, your knowledge of arithmetic leaves much to be desired.
My advice to the potential buyer: read the following paragraph and decide if you still want to buy it
On pages 74/75 he takes three numbers 365.25, 365 and 360 and multiplies them twice by 0.666666666
Later on page 79 he starts again with the same three numbers but now he multiplies them once by 11520
Finally on the next page he divides the latter three results by the former ones and he finds himself SHOCKED to find they all yield the same result: 25920
NO KIDDING! ...Pitiful.
Take ANY number X and multiply it Twice by 0.66666666 you get (0.44444444)X
Take the same X number and multiply it by 11520 you get (11520)X
If you divide the latter by the former THE X's CANCEL EACH OTHER and you end up with (11520)/(0.44444444) which will ALWAYS yield 25920 regardless of the number you start with.
Yet the astonished words from the author are: "The identical result of these calculations is the precession number, which made me break out in cold sweat"
Mr Geryl please stick to Archeology and find the labyrinth.

Beneath the Pyramids: Egypt's Greatest Secret Uncovered Review

Beneath the Pyramids: Egypt's Greatest Secret Uncovered

When Edgar Cayce began in his trance readings to speak of an Egyptian Civilization that predated the one described by conventional archeology, he was "out on a (metaphysical)limb. His description of an age of builders, 8,000 years before the 3rd dynasty seemed out of line with accepted theory.
However, Cayce also said that the ancients, led by a charismatic High Priest named Ra Ta, and an architecht named Hermes, were contempory with a failing, and soon to vanish Atlantean civilization, dated by no less than Plato to 10,000 BCE!
In this important book, certain to be followed by others, Andrew Collins begins to answer the challenge posed by traditional archeology:"where is the evidence." He draws on overlooked reports of early archeology, as well as traditional wisdom, local legend, and textual evidence in known antiquities to build a powerful case that the evidence has been under everyones noses all along!
Drawing on all this material Collins puts theory into practice and rediscovers a vast complex of tunnels and caves under the giza plateau! Portions of which show obvious evidence of human alteration. He presents a powerful case that the mythical Hall of Records described by Cayce and many other ancient and modern mystics is located and can be accessed by exploring, and understanding this complex in the context of Egyptian tradition and wisdom.
Some will be dissappointed that Collins hasn't discovered the hall itself, but I think he is being careful and responsible: putting together the pieces of the puzzle in a way that honors the builders of that distant past, rather than playing the arrogant westerner imposing his views (or trying to)on a skeptical Egyptian Archeological establishment.
In the long run, I believe Collins and his approach will win over the doubters, led by Zahi Hawass, Director Of antiquities in Egypt. Then the real work of uncovering the Hall of Records, and presenting it's stored wisdom to a world ready to recieve it.

Beneath the pyramids of Egypt lies a lost underworld of catacombs, hewn chambers, and cave tunnels. They are alluded to in ancient texts and Arab legends, but have been left unexplored until today. They have now been rediscovered and investigated for the first time by science and history writer Andrew Collins. What exactly does this subterranean realm tell us about the pyramids, their relationship to the stars, and the mythical origins of Egyptian civilization? Lavishly illustrated with color photos, this is a breathtaking personal journey of exploration and discovery.

A History of Prophecy in Israel - revised and enlarged Review

A History of Prophecy in Israel - revised and enlarged

Blenkinsopp's book is a classical introduction to the prophetic books of the Old Testament. This revised and enlarged edition keeps available an important work on the prophets of the Hebrew Bible. He leans heavily upon source analysis, especially P and D/Dtr, for his understanding of the development of the prophets. For Blenkinsopp critical scholarship is "unanimous" about the late authorship and collection of Deuteronomy, 116. There is less emphasis in the book on the original prophet or logia and more on what is from the Deuteronomic editors. Blenkinsopp still sees the prophets as real historical figures although well hidden by a later developed literature. The location of any unit as from the original prophet is then a product of scholarly argumentation.
The first chapter provides a brief summary of the prophet in Israel, including a brief history of criticism, analysis of terminology and the role of the prophet. Discussion is informed by recent developments in social science criticism but little emphasis is given to the ancient Near Eastern data. The book then develops the phenomenon of prophecy with reference to historical developments in Israel. Blenkinsopp, like many modern biblical critics, is skeptical of Israel's history before the monarchy yet he sees hints of a prophetic tradition before the monarchy in narratives about people like Deborah or Miriam. The true beginning, however, is with Samuel and the rise of the monarchy as shaped by the Deuteronomists.
The books is quite thorough in covering each prophetic book and provides extensive bibliographies (updated a little from1983) at the beginning of each unit. The analysis of each book combines a discussion of structural units, shaped by source, genre, and redaction criticism, with significant points of the book's message. Blenkinsopp also develops each work in relationship to the flow of Israel's prophetic movement. Though heavily dependent upon source analysis it is a must for those reading about the Old Testament prophets.

This revised and enlarged edition of Joseph Blenkinsopp's 1983 book will be a welcome addition to the libraries of serious Biblical scholars. The author critically recounts the history of Israelite prophecy from a social-historical perspective.

Amazing, spiritual and full of incredible secrets. I wish I have read this book before I travelled to Egypt and Mexico. I remember the places, but at that time I could not understand all the details and the story behind it. This book explains in such details the way of thinking and planning of little details for future generations to discover the secrets of The Mayan, Tutankhamun Prophecies.
After reading this book, I look at the stars at night and my mind just drifts away.

Egyptian Heritage: Based on the Edgar Cayce Readings Review

Egyptian Heritage: Based on the Edgar Cayce Readings

This book provides a concise summary of the Edgar Cayce material about the origins of the Egyptian civilization. It is a very strange subject and may not appeal to some readers because it is so foreign to the way the world is today. However Cayce fans should enjoy it.
According to Cayce these events took place around 10,500 BC which is a long time ago for trying to figure out what really happened based just on archeological evidence.
Edgar Cayce himself in the form of the Atlantean priest Ra Ta is a central figure in the story. It is my understanding that Cayce was the reincarnation of the Egyptian god Osiris and Ra Ta had a god like role in all of this. In fact without Ra Ta the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx, and the many other mysterious monuments and temples in Egypt may not even exist today.
Cayce's statements about Atlantis and ancient Egypt answer many questions but they raise so many more. There are many, many details which Cayce never elaborated on. In some cases Cayce stated that it was not even possible to explain certain things using verbal language.
Readers who like this type of information will probably also like the following longer book:

The Tutankhamun Prophecies: The Sacred Secret of the Maya, Egyptians, and Freemasons Review

The Tutankhamun Prophecies: The Sacred Secret of the Maya, Egyptians, and Freemasons

Where to begin? The book has so many ideas in it that a person could go in any direction trying to comprehend the ideas or doing further research into them. Okay, I'll begin by saying that I really loved this book.
Maurice Cotterell has courage, being a scientist that suggests doing science in areas that many condemn as "junk science" (translation: trespassing on mainstream scientists' holy ground). Cotterell did not necessarily convince me of the radical ideas he proposed, and gave some proof of. Cotterell was not writing for fellow scientists, although I'm sure he could do so very well. Among the most convincing ideas, calculating the speed of light in arcminutes rather than taking it as a constant. Among the least, personality type determined by zodiac signs. Again, it was written for the layperson rather than the specialist, although the ideas are difficult and sometimes covered too superficially. Cotterell makes the reader want to do the science to prove or disprove his theories, many of which are quite plausible.
Anyone who likes Egyptology will like the book. Much of the book covers what came out of King Tut's tomb and how everyone until now has missed the significance of the items therein. For example, included in the mummy's wrappings are 144 objects, a significant number. The history of the Freemasons directly ties in with the Egyptians and Cotterell reveals some of their secrets. The mask of Palenque (from Mayan civilization) and Tut's tomb were carefully designed by sophisticated thinkers who wanted to encode their secrets for their later use. Find out how and why in this amazing book.
A decent read for those interested in Physics, Astronomy, ancient civilizations, the arcane, esoteric groups (particularly the Freemasons), alternative ideas in science, symbolism and numbers in different cultures. econ
