The Serpent Grail: The Truth Behind the Holy Grail, the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Life Review

The Serpent Grail: The Truth Behind the Holy Grail, the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Life

The authors ignore respected sources that apply very directly to their work, and the various observations regarding the serpent icon, meaning and myth.
By not including Marija Gimbutas various archeolgical books ("The Language of the Goddess: Unearthing the Hidden Symbols of Western Civilization" for one), nor Barbara G. Walker's "The Woman's Dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Objects" as well as "The Woman's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets" Serpent Grail authors rob their arguments of strong investigators of relevant subject matter. Further, they do not seem to know of Jeremy Narby's "Cosmic Serpent" which offers much insight into an intriguing indigenous and shamanic interpretaion of serpent, life force, and what we call DNA.
Worse, in my opinion all too often the authors ramble on and in sudden "deus ex machina" fashion include "And so it is obvious that...."
What follows is a conclusion unsupported by reasoned presentation based on facts. Rather, a string of events, and suppositions are offered, and quickly summed up as clearly proving whatever the authors are selling.
I wanted this book to be so much better than it is. I think it a shame Gimbutas and Walker are not included as their work is so very relevant to this book and its premises. Further, with more rigorous scholarship and intellectual discipline the case the authors are making would be much better served.

The truth has been buried for hundreds of years beneath myth, symbolism, and propaganda—but it finally comes to light in these pages and can no longer be denied. This is the story of an extraordinary journey of discovery that uncovers the existence of a serpent-worshipping cult that thrived throughout the world in ancient times and whose influences have permeated all the major religions. The cult's central rite involved mixing together snake blood and venom in a ceremonial bowl, forging a powerful healing elixir—and the evidence shows that this ritual holds the key to solving such enigmatic mysteries as the Holy Grail, Elixir of Life, Philosopher's Stone, and the lost city of Atlantis. It's nothing less than a radical reinterpretation of world history.

The historical background of the book is very interesting but I consider the "math" inside an insult.
My advice to the author: stay away from math, seriously, your knowledge of arithmetic leaves much to be desired.
My advice to the potential buyer: read the following paragraph and decide if you still want to buy it
On pages 74/75 he takes three numbers 365.25, 365 and 360 and multiplies them twice by 0.666666666
Later on page 79 he starts again with the same three numbers but now he multiplies them once by 11520
Finally on the next page he divides the latter three results by the former ones and he finds himself SHOCKED to find they all yield the same result: 25920
NO KIDDING! ...Pitiful.
Take ANY number X and multiply it Twice by 0.66666666 you get (0.44444444)X
Take the same X number and multiply it by 11520 you get (11520)X
If you divide the latter by the former THE X's CANCEL EACH OTHER and you end up with (11520)/(0.44444444) which will ALWAYS yield 25920 regardless of the number you start with.
Yet the astonished words from the author are: "The identical result of these calculations is the precession number, which made me break out in cold sweat"
Mr Geryl please stick to Archeology and find the labyrinth.

After searching most of my life for answers to life's riddles, this book opened the flood gates for me.
I purchased many copies for like minded friends and the response was "This is a book who's time has come."
The authors invested much time and effort to translate esoteric teachings into every day language.

The Nine Eyes of Light: Ascension Keys from Egypt Review

The Nine Eyes of Light: Ascension Keys from Egypt

This book opens up a whole new, yet ancient realm into the unseen and multi-dimensional world in which we live. In a very clear and grounded way, it completely demystifies Ancient Egyptian and Atlantean spirituality for modern times. The Ancient Egyptians had many far advanced technologies for living in truth, harmony, wholeness and genius and this book revives and brings alive all of that ancient wisdom to be applied in today's ever-changing and demanding times. The truth and wisdom contained in these pages shows us very clearly that we are much more than our physical body alone and how we have 9 different ways to perceive our reality and ultimately ascend into a new set of spheres and dimensions at any given time using all 9 light bodies. The knowledge contained in this book blows apart any notion of a "limited" human being and restores a remembrance of the Original Human being, unlimited, boundless, vast and free.
Padma AOn Prakasha has very clearly transmitted a unique and timely piece of work here, that is the FULL DISCLOSURE on what has been kept silent for aeons of time about the truth of who we are and the many facets we need to integrate and embody at this important and unprecedented time of immense change for humanity. There is so much more waiting to be reunited and reintegrated and this is the "How to" manual for that ascension process.
We are all feeling it, that pull towards ancient wisdom, the ascension symptoms we all seem to be experiencing where life is hurtling at us so fast, forcing us to change our old ways and allow the new frequencies to enter and take us on that journey back to wholeness and unlimited love, creativity and true being.
An amazing book for the amazing times ahead that will birth a new consciousness... If there is one book you buy this year, make it this one! Truly astounding, remarkable and incredible...

Ancient Code: Are You Ready for the REAL 2012? Review

Ancient Code: Are You Ready for the REAL 2012

i'm surprised at the glowing reviews this book has gotten. it is a collection of 20 essays written by many famous authors and authorities of alternative history and spirituality. the problem is many of the articles are very short (3 pages or so) and feel very incompete. as one is reading the essays, all of a sudden they are over with not much tying the article up. some essays are very vague (marshall masters talks about dark workers, but doesn't define who they are other than "foes"), some do not mention anything about 2012 (philip gardiner does a page and a half piece of fiction). i enjoyed colin wilson's article the best because of his writing style and ability to say a lot in a little space. buy it used if you must.

Some say the end of mankind is near. Some say that financial turmoil is part of the process, along with global warming, warfare and the spread of mass psychosis. Children are fed drugs to keep them calm; nations are invaded by their neighbors; the climate is changing all around us; celebrities become our gods and materialism is the new mantra. But what is the real truth? Is there an answer to all this? If our material lives are making us happier, then why so many self-help books, films and philosophies? It can't be denied that the times are changing. Every day sees new challenges for our species, while we cause mayhem and madness on an unbelievable scale. But there is a ratio to it all, a rhyme and reason behind everything that we do and everything that affects us.Ancient Code is a collection of 20 fascinating essays - from today's top authors and researchers - which takes a look at the Ancient Code, our relationship with it and how it relates to 2012. You will learn about a power that was first hidden and then lost over time. Many have sought to rediscover it in order to wield it selfishly. Like mad magicians seeking to rule the world, men of renown have fleetingly seen the incredible nature of this Code but all too often they have missed the point. The Ancient Code needs no material gain, no hatred, warfare or drugs, because YOU are the key to the Code...Featuring: Brian Allan, Jack Allis, Kala Ambrose, Nick Ashron, Philip Coppens, Robert Feather, Philip Gardiner, Dr. Mitchell E. Gibson, Andrew Gough, Jasmine Gould, Dan Green, Dr. John Jay Harper, June-Elleni Lane, Janice Manning, Marshall Masters, Brian Mayne, Steve Mitchell, Nick Pope, Dennis Price and Colin Wilson.

very informative on the discipled study of ancient Egyptian spirituality. The author could have used a good editor perhaps, but the book itself has been a good intro to the practice of Kemetism,.

The Egyptian Mysteries Review

I just finished reading Arthur Versluis' incredible book, The Egyptian Mysteries. After having read dozens of books in doing research for my own work, Embodying Osiris, I can say without reservation that Versluis' insights into ancient Egypt go deeper than any other I've read thus far. It's one of those books where you find yourself highlighting every other sentence. He manages to cover an enormous amount in a very short space (148 pages), reflecting his command of the subject and ability to be succinct. In short chapters he delves into the essence of the major Egyptian gods: Osiris, Typhon (Seth), Hermanubis, Ra; and further explores the inner meaning of the Ennead, the Two Lands and best of all, the Apocatastasis. (Take a look at my FB page for a long quote.) In short, he really gets to the heart of ancient Egypt and you catch a glimpse of that ineffable mystery that was ancient Egypt. If I have one criticism to make it is this: Versluis interprets this mystery through the lens of Buddhism, Vedanta and Taoism. While I understand this need - since the Egyptians left no commentary, no philosophical canon, no teachings - I do not agree with him that "there is no other way." I think there is: it is possible to deconstruct the Egyptian mind, to go back, as best we can using a phenomenological approach, and appreciate their psyche on its own terms. In any event, this is a great book and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to understand how such an ancient culture, one that integrated spirituality into everyday life, serves as a model for the pressing needs of a modern world that has virtually lost all touch with the sacred. The Quest for Hermes Trismegistus: From Ancient Egypt to the Modern World Review

The Quest for Hermes Trismegistus: From Ancient Egypt to the Modern World

While Gary Lachman latest book is less of a quest than a fascinating stroll through the Hermetic library, I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Much of it involved familiar names - Plato, Pythagoras, Petrarch, Ficino, Pico, Bruno, John Dee, G.R.S. Mead - but to his credit Lackman does a great job of adding less familiar magi (Casaubon, Suhrawardi, Mavronmatis) in making for a compelling narrative. I appreciated his commentary, historical corrections, occasional insights and explanations of Hermeticism, keeping to the story line even when we headed down some dark corridors. This is above all a history book, one that could have been tedious, but Lachman's writing kept my interest. I especially liked the emphasis put on ancient Egypt and how Hermeticism naturally flows from the waters of the Nile, permeating everything in its wake from the Alexandrian Hermeticists to Freemasons to Bruno to Gurdjieff to Rudolf Steiner to Rilke ... I also very much appreciated his crediting Jeremy Naydler's reworking of Plato's instruction to "practice dying" and how it raises the likelihood that texts like the Book of the Dead were not simply used for funerary purposes, but as a vehicle for connecting the microcosm and macrocosm. This goal, given many names, is an essential theme that runs throughout the book. Lackman does a great job in describing the two paths of knowledge, gnosis and epistme, and he points to some exciting new possibilities, but the 'third path' is one that can only be experienced by someone willing to "interiorize" the world for themselves.Embodying Osiris: The Secrets of Alchemical Transformation

From the sands of Alexandria via the Renaissance palaces of the Medicis, to our own times, this spiritual adventure story traces the profound influence of Hermes Trismegistus -- the 'thrice-great one', as he was often called -- on the western mind. For centuries his name ranked among the most illustrious of the ancient world. Considered by some a contemporary of Moses and a forerunner of Christ, this almost mythical figure arose in fourth century BC Alexandria, from a fusion of the Egyptian god Thoth and the Greek god Hermes. Master of magic, writing, science, and philosophy, Hermes was thought to have walked with gods and be the source of the divine wisdom granted to man at the dawn of time. Gary Lachman has written many books exploring ancient traditions for the modern mind. In The Quest for Hermes Trismegistus, he brings to life the mysterious character of this great spiritual guide, exposing the many theories and stories surrounding him, and revitalizing his teachings for the modern world. Through centuries of wars, conquests and religious persecutions, the fragile pages of the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus have still survived. This is a book for all thinkers and enquirers who want to recover that lost knowledge and awaken a shift in human consciousness.
